Weed Spraying

A Trans Tank International 600lt spray unit, with twin retractable hoses, is our choice of equipment so we can service remote areas in the elimination of noxious weeds.

We are able to access steep terrain on foot utilising the 150m hose with the ability to extend to 300m if required.

This allows for property weed management, roadside spraying, or for more remote spraying allowing us to walk to the site with minimal ground disturbance.

Do you have a smaller job that needs weed control? BMLS are adaptive, we also offer services for more sensitive or smaller weed control jobs.

With an understanding of the importance of our native flora, we are able to identify and tread carefully to protect our environment.

Director, Edan Brennan has a chemical user licence and is able to work commercially for both private and government clients.

Fire Break Construction

Bushfires can move rapidly, often until you are in the line of a fire or watching from the sidelines do you realise how quickly they move.

With the use of a bulldozer or skid steer, BMLS offer the service of fire break construction.

These works are conducted in the lead up to the fire season and may add protection to your property. While this method can help to slow the fire, there are many other contributing factors for a fire that can impact, such as weather or ferocity of the fire itself.

Property and Fenceline Clearing

Do you have a big property or a smaller sized block?

Property and fence line clearing is offered with a chainsaw in hand, or by using machinery for the larger jobs. Depending on the work required.

It’s important that properties are clear of debris, not only to reduce fire risk but for the functionality of the property.

Often properties adjoining bushland see damage on fences from storms, including strong winds and floods, , droughts or animals. Fallen trees or debris can often cause breaks in fences where stock can get out.

Edan is a skilled and accredited chainsaw operator and is able to clear a fence line in record time. The added benefit BMLS can offer is, that works can also include fence repair if the tree has caused damage.

Vegetation Rehabilitation

Bushfire Mitigation and Land Services support the rehabilitation of native vegetation.

Linking in with environmental professionals, we work together to revegetate land pairing the correct vegetation for climate and area, taking into consideration specific site conditions and local regulations.

Often following weed management services, vegetation rehabilitation is another service we can offer to help our environment be returned to its natural state and eliminate introduced species.

Mulching, Mowing & Slashing Vegetation

BMLS mitigate the risk of bushfires by reducing fuel loads. Mulching, mowing and slashing have proven to be highly effective methods for achieving this goal and safeguarding our communities.

BMLS own and operate a Fecon Mulcher which runs from a skid steer. This mulcher is designed for clearing property, fence lines and reserves within North East Victoria, the mulcher can mulch grasses, vegetation and mulches to a consistent chip size.

The Fecon attachment has the ability to clear 1 acre in 1 hour, this attachment can be used on reserves, private property, and along roadsides providing clear fire breaks or clearing vegetation for a bigger purpose.

At Bushfire Mitigation and Land Services we continue to assess the land we operate on, for environmental impact and to ensure that cultural heritage areas remain undisturbed.

We use a diverse array of grass mowing equipment, including whipper snippers and small lawn mowers, alongside our 50-inch zero-turn mower. We may also operate skid steer with slasher attachment for larger works.

Planned Burn Preparation

Director, Edan Brennan is experienced in burn preparation. Having worked in emergency management for many years, Edan is a strong advocate for preparing well for a planned burn and protecting the assets, protecting native flora and fauna and reducing the fire risk for properties and bushland.

Many plant species have evolved to depend on periodic fires for their survival and regeneration. Planned burns can help to control invasive species, promote the growth of fire-adapted plants, and maintain our biodiversity.

BMLS will work for you to plan and implement measures to prepare ahead of a controlled burn that would be undertaken by fire authorities. Please note that BMLS will not undertake the burn itself, but assist in preparing your land ahead of the planned burn.

Chainsaw Operations

Director Edan Brennan is a skilled and accredited faller, falling hazardous trees utilising a range of Stihl chainsaws, pole saws.

We are a cut above the rest, not only is Edan highly skilled in this area, safety is of upmost importance and hazard checks are completed for each job and reviewed daily.

Part of the job is the clean-up, fallen timber can be removed as part of the service or strategically placed to encourage native fauna to inhabit.

Preparing for Fire Season

Preparing for the fire season is an important part of protecting your family and your asset.

BMLS offer services to clean up debris. Works can often include chainsaw operations to clear fallen timber, mowing and slashing to reduce grass and sticks, and, general clean-up to ensure that fire fuel is reduced.

Storm Recovery Works

Rural Fencing

Ever heard the saying, straight as a post?

BMLS offer fencing services for private or public clients.

Fencing works can include but are not limited to:

removal of existing fence
plant work to level and clear any debris
chainsaw operations to remove any branches from fallen timber
erecting posts, fence and gates as required

Stump Grinding

BMLS operate a Stumpex Stump Grinder which operates on an excavator for a long arm reach. Operated at a low but powerful 7-16 RPM, this provides a safer work zone compared to other stump grinders which operate at a higher risk of projectile objects.

The stump grinder attachment can be used on a skid steer for the smaller jobs providing minimal ground disturbance for the more environmentally sensitive jobs.

Emergency Road Clearing

Do you need a contractor to clear a road for access?

Often roads can be inaccessible due to debris across the road, BMLS offer services to clear the road by hand or using machinery as required.

Clearing and Maintenance of Tracks

Operating a dozer or skid steer, we are able to offer services to clear tracks or to brush up tracks back to original condition. Track clearing & maintenance allows for safe and efficient access for emergency vehicles, and for members of the public to access our more remote and pristine areas.

We ensure that specifications for roads are adhered to, and engage the services of traffic management where required, erecting the traffic management signage to raise awareness to works being completed. Our attention to detail is important to make sure that the finish to a track is the correct gradient and smooth for those accessing.
